Their story
From forest to chocolate
Philipp Kauffmann left the United Nations to found Original Beans in 2008: chocolate from rare cacao, with programmes focused on forests and cacao communities. They source rare origins — from Virunga to Piura or the Amazon — in agroforestry, not monoculture.
One4One and Foodprint
For every bar they plant a tree at origin. They publish the Chocolate Foodprint with biodiversity and livelihood data alongside other published metrics. Their compostable wrapper was an industry first. Tree planting is described here as a programme practice, not as a claim of climate neutrality or compensated emissions.
For chefs and consumers
Their couvertures and bars appear in leading kitchens across Europe and beyond, with traceability back to the grower.
